TEVEN VALLEY GOLF COURSE

With a stunning natural setting, Teven Valley Golf Course is flanked by remnant rainforest and woven with rocky, freshwater creeks where you might just spot a platypus. High on the wow factor, this boutique course, designed by Craig Parry and reopened in 2021, is the first 9-hole golf course to be included in Golf Australia’s Top 100 Public Access Courses. It’s also unique in featuring Sir Grange Zoysia grass from tee to green. This premium grass is renowned for its vibrant colour, immaculate playing surfaces and a carpet-like feel that makes it a joy to play on.


MURWILLUMBAH GOLF CLUB

Lush fairways and immaculate greens surrounded by beautiful bushland create a tranquil atmosphere at Murwillumbah Golf Club. And with the jagged peaks of Wollumbin ever present, there can be no forgetting that you are in the Northern Rivers. Popular with professionals and amateurs alike, the course's tight fairways, strategically placed bunkers and hilly terrain add excitement to every game. As well as regular golf and club events, junior lessons and clinics, and a well-equipped golf shop, there’s a brand-new state-of-the-art kitchen serving up seafood, steak and tasty Asian fare.


COOLANGATTA & TWEED HEADS GOLF CLUB

Sprawled across a 101-hectare nature reserve on the picturesque banks of the Tweed River, this renowned club has two beautiful courses to choose from, each with a unique mix of challenges. The River Course winds around a small rainforest that is home to diverse wildlife, while the West Course has soothing hinterland views. Both feature undulating greens, water hazards and strategic bunkering that provide lots of interesting challenges. Practice your swing on the driving range, then fine tune your skills on the putting green or chipping area. Round off your day with a drink and a meal at the fully licensed Balcony Bar & Cafe, which offers some great lunch specials and an extensive wine list. Junior coaching is a focus here so if you have a child interested in learning to play, book a lesson online.



BYRON BAY GOLF CLUB

This challenging 18-hole golf course is set on 120 acres of tropical coastal terrain, with tree-lined fairway, gentle hills, water hazards and panoramic views stretching from Cape Byron to the picturesque hinterland. The well-equipped pro shop has everything you need for a great day on the course, and if you are keen to elevate your game you can sign up for a lesson with a PGA-qualified professional. Keep an eye out for wallabies, and when you’re done for the day, enjoy the spectacular views from the deck of the clubhouse, where Bowerbird Dining and Events serves up a casual but classy seasonal menu with a focus on local produce.


OCEAN SHORES COUNTRY CLUB

Set on a rise with sweeping ocean views, this magnificent course was designed by Aussie golfing legend Bruce Devlin, and renowned course designer, Robert Von Hagge. The championship layout features 18 holes meandering through native bushland, tidal lakes and rivers. As well as competition days and social golf, the club offers lawn bowls, Pilates, Bridge sessions and regular live music events, while the swimming pool is just the spot to cool off on a warm summer’s day. Western and Asian fare is served up at Pacific Breeze Restaurant, and don’t worry about sinking one too many if you’ve been celebrating coming in under par - as there’s a courtesy bus for lifts home (local area.)


LISMORE WORKERS GOLF CLUB

A spectacular 18-hole prestige golf course designed to challenge golfers of all levels, Lismore Workers Golf Course is seamlessly integrated with the environment. Set amidst soaring eucalyptus trees teeming with bird life, it’s not uncommon to spot a koala here. Relaxed and friendly, this is the ideal club for a casual game, and the clubhouse makes a lively social hub, with May’s Kitchen offering tasty, well-priced Asian fusion cuisine.


 

LADIES GOLF

Thinking about taking up golf? “Women’s Golf Murwillumbah (a sub club of Murwillumbah Gold Club, is always looking for and encouraging new members through beginner clinics, promotional golf days and membership offers,” says President Marie Morrin.


Women’s Golf Murwillumbah hosts regular women’s competition days on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays, and women can also join Murwillumbah Vets on Mondays, and play in the Club Medley competitions offered on Fridays and Sundays. Upcoming events in 2025 include Pink for Breast Cancer Open Day in May, with a monster raffle donated by local members. And the annual Mount Warning/ Wollumbin Classic in August. “In its 30-year history, the tournament has built strong friendships and bonds. It’s not just about the game, it’s also about the people we meet and share this crazy game with,” says Marie.
